Starbucks Boba Tea: White Chocolate Mocha

From all the drinks that I have tried at Starbucks, one of my favorites was the white chocolate mocha. It had a good ratio to the flavor of how much white chocolate that could actually be tasted in the drink. The sweetness was around a 7 out of 10, which was higher than a lot of the other drinks.

So making a copycat starbucks boba tea with white chocolate as the flavor was on my list of things to do.

The hot drink really goes well with the white chocolate flavor and makes you want to drink more and more. There is also a special boba besides the original tapioca pearls to try with this drink.

I will give the regular boba, and that too in this homemade recipe.

How to Make A Simple Starbucks Bubble Tea White Chocolate Mocha

Here are the ingredients for making your own copycat diy Starbucks white chocolate mocha (bubble tea version).

Optional for frothing the milk:

The exact ingredients for a 16 ounce drink:

  • Tapioca Pearls – 2.5 Ounces (about 1/3 cup)
  • White Chocolate Syrup – 2 Ounce (4 Tablespoons)
  • Milk – 10 Ounces (1 ¼ Cups)
  • Espresso – 1 Ounces (2 Tablespoons)

1. Start with cooking the boba.

Preparing and cooking your boba is the first step. If you are using the chocolate popping boba instead, then there isn’t any prepping or cooking for this. The original tapioca pearls will take around an hour to cook, but will have better texture and taste if done right. There are also instant tapioca pearls that cook and finish in around 10 minutes. If you go with these, Wufuyuan’s instant pearls is your bet.

Learning how to cook boba isn’t hard, and there is additional information on cooking tapioca pearls to perfection.

2. Prepare and make your espresso. Put it in your cup.

Make your espresso for the white chocolate boba and put it in the cup. Put 1 ounce (1 pump) of espresso into your cup. You can add more if you like, but this is how much is in the original drink.

Making the espresso can be done with a nespresso machine, and the espresso capsules that fit in it. For this drink, the roast is the espresso made normally for this starbucks drink. This is a good option if you plan on making more in the future. Also, instant espresso is available, which is a good generic choice and easy to use.

3. Put your cooked boba or chocolate popping boba into your cup.

Next thing to put into your cup is your boba. Put 1/3 of a cup of boba into your cup. This will make everything easier later and prevent unnecessary spillage. It also stops you from over filling the cup later.

Use a spoon if you need to carefully place the boba in.

4. Prepare your frothed milk and put it into the cup.

Now with your espresso and boba in the cup, it is time to add the milk. To froth the milk, you will need an Areoccino, a small electronic whisk, or a jar with a microwave.

With the Areoccino, you can just place milk into the machine and let it create frothed milk.

If you are using a small electronic whisk, then just place the whisk at the bottom the milk after heating it up in the microwave for 30 seconds or more, and whisk until frothed.

And for the jar and microwave method, you can use a small jar to place milk into. Fill the jar up half way with milk, close it and shake it for 20 seconds. Take the lid off and place it in the microwave for 60 sseconds. This may have to be done in sections if the jar is too small, to get all of the milk frothed.

Add 1 ¼ Cups of milk to your beverage. Starbucks uses the 2% milk, but you’re welcomed to use soy milk if you are vegan, or coconut milk if you are lactose intolerant.

5. Put the white chocolate syrup into the cup, and gently stir.

Put 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) of the starbucks white chocolate syrup into the cup. Gently stir the drink so that the syrup mixes well into the drink. It shouldn’t take much since everything is already heated.

6. Add whip cream to the top (optional).

Finish your starbucks white chocolate mocha boba drink with whip cream on the top. Spread it across the entire top surface of the drink.

7. Enjoy.

Done. If you want to make this into an iced drink, then add plenty of ice into the drink after step 3 (before you put the milk in). Some of the ice might melt because of the heated milk if you choose to froth it, so add a lot.

How To Make Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Boba With Milk Tea

To make the starbucks copycat white chocolate mocha with tea, just simply cut the amount of milk used in half, and replace with your favorite tea leaf flavor.

Check the loose tea leaves section for the tea and how to brew them for your boba drinks.

An even easier method is to use milk tea powder mix, and add 3 Tablespoons of the powder into the milk and mix it in. This will create a milk tea with black tea already in it.
