Is bubble tea high in protein? Let’s break down each component of the ingredients in bubble tea and milk tea to see just how much protein is found in a typical boba drink.

You might be interested in this, because protein is essential for strength gains, which can help improve work and other daily tasks. Protein is necessary for building muscle fast. With more muscles comes more endurance and more strength. Of course, protein doesn’t make this happen all on its own. Carbohydrates are important too, which bubble tea contains a lot of, but let’s just cover the protein specifically in this topic.

Bubble tea is usually made up of 3 components: tapioca pearls, tea, and milk. Of course they can also come with sugars, however sugar contains 0 grams of protein. Because of this, it is not something that would be included since it is irrelevant. However, it is still recommended to keep the sugars in your boba drinks to a minimum.

How Much Protein Is In Each Component Of Bubble Tea?

Tapioca Pearls

Tapioca pearls are known for having an extremely high amount of carbohydrates, but a cup of tapioca pearls only contains 0.3 grams of protein. This number is reduced further when the typical bubble tea drink of 16 ounces only contains a third of a cup of tapioca pearls.

An entire cup of tapioca pearls would be an absurd amount for a 16 ounce bubble tea drink.

This means that there is really only 0.1 grams (a tenth of a gram) of protein found in the tapioca pearls for a usual size of bubble tea.

There are many tea flavors that can be used to create bubble tea drinks, however this doesn’t really change the amount of proteins that can be found in the individual tea flavors, no matter which type is used.

Tea contains only traces of protein in it, meaning that it only has 0.1 grams of protein that can be found in some teas. Once again, this is only a tenth of a gram, but it is reduced even further, if the bubble doesn’t have atleast a cup of tea in its ingredients. Most of the time it will though.

Milk has always been known as a good source of nutrition, including a fair amount of proteins. Bubble tea drinks have a little under a cup of whole milk in its ingredients, depending on the type of bubble tea drink that is made. Some bubble tea drinks do not have milk at all. A cup of whole milk contains 8 grams of protein.

The amount of protein found in a bubble tea drink can also vary depending on the type of milk used. Whole milk is one if the best sources for protein for milk, but sometimes soy milk is used for vegans and the lactose intolerant. Coconut milk is also used sometimes, which only contains 5 grams of protein per cup.

So for a regular bubble tea drink (pearl milk tea) of 16 ounces, you can expect 6 to 10 grams of protein.

So a regular pearl milk tea can have almost the same amount of proteins as 4 chicken tender, and as little protein as 2 chicken tenders, depending on how much milk it has and what type of milk is used.

Is Milk Tea High In Protein?

Milk tea would be made with both milk and tea as its only ingredients for sources of protein. Milk tea can have tapioca pearls (boba), but as already discussed, tapioca pearls is not a good source of protein.

A milk tea is usually made with the same amount of milk as a bubble tea, if not more or less. So a milk tea would still have the same amount of proteins as a regular bubble tea drink would have (6 to 10 grams). The amount of milk ratio to the tea ratio would have to be more to get more grams of protein out of the milk tea.

How do you make boba tea with protein?

To make a bubble tea drink with more protein, simply add an unflavored protein powder to the bubble tea drink when making it. This way it will have the protein included into it from the milk and the protein from the powder if it is mixed with the milk.

The Promix whey unflavored protein powder is designed to be mixed with other foods and drinks. It has no gmo, hormones, soy, or gluten (it is gluten-free). Two scoops of the protein powder will give 25 grams of protein to whatever it is mixed into.

It will change the texture of the boba tea, but it will get the job done.

Another way is to make the bubble tea with whole milk or soy milk is to use the coconut flavoring powder to make a coconut milk tea. It has 4 grams more of protein per serving.

The coconut flavor is a good choice because, coconut mixes well with almost any other bubble tea flavor. It is versatile, and will keep you from getting bored from having to use the same old flavor everytime for your bubble tea protein drinks.

A higher ratio of milk to tea, coconut milk tea flavoring, unflavored protein powder mixed in, will give your bubble tea protein shake around 38 grams of protein for a 16 ounce bubble tea drink.

This will allow you to build a lot of muscle when drinking bubble and working out, and also provide the carbs needed to keep you fueled at the same time. The tapioca pearls will synergize with the protein in the boba drink, creating a great drink for athletes and body builders.
